Figured You Out

Oh this song is driving me nuts! (Yeah, I'm listening to it right now, if you have it, put it on too, so you can feel my pain.)

Have you ever heard a song that instantly gave you a visual? This song is a loud, in my face version of my current WIP.
I'm getting nothing done.
That's right. Every time I hear it, I feel as if the artist snuck into my computer, read my script and wrote a song about the poor bugger I'm making suffer. I'm sure it has nothing to do with a seducer in love with a demon, (I watched the video- it doesn't) but it's my dream.

Figured You Out.

It's not a new song, but it fits with my work so well. I have to listen to it. Over and over again. I know every word, every beat, even the tension is just right.

I don't write when it plays. (no, it's not procrastination, it's inspiration.) I don't edit. I sit and dream about my poor bugger, all in agony over this dame he thinks he knows. He's sure he knows. This close to death, he prays he knows.
Then I see her.
Twirling around him, all innocent. No idea she's killing him. No intention of letting him survive.
Damn.

Figured You Out. By Nickelback.

One day, (still my dream) I might have to sell the CD along side of my book. ;) So readers can get the full effect, ya know?

Any music you'd team up with your current WIP?

First - I absolutely love that song ^_^ And second I know exactly where you're coming from. I have songs like that for my stories, too. My most recent one is the 'Careless Whisper' remake by Seether.

Hope it lets you write soon :D

Love Nickelback. My playlist for my current novel is 50% Nickelback. My favs for my MC are I'd Come For You and Next Contestant. Gets me pumped to write every time.

I don't listen to music while I write, but sometimes I hear songs in the car or at the gym that remind me of my wip.

I've been thinking about associating music with my WIP, but I can't really contain myself to one song for too long. (Although the replay button on my iPod is abused often. . .) I don't listen to Flyleaf very often, but I feel like their songs All Around Me and maybe Fully Alive fit well.

I'm naming one of my books "Only the Lonely" after the song of the same title.

Hi New BFF!!
I love having playlists for my books, I got started on that with Carrie Vaughn's "Kitty" series.
For my current WIP I've been listening to Apocolyptica, Breaking Benjamin and Nox Arcana (thank goodness for Pandora!) I'm kind of a weirdo when it comes to music, I listen to bluegrass (growing up in rural southwestern Missouri you almost have to), classical, New Age, and of course good 'ol R&R. I think it's great you found the ONE that defines your WIP. Are you going to tease us with more????

I have theme songs. My stories have theme songs. So, yeah - I have several songs that "get me in the mood." Glad to see others do too!

New follower and fellow crusader! Nice to meet you!

Great song choice, Tanya. It depends on the scene I'm writing. :) I'm a follower now! Great blog.
