NEVER EVER Judge a Blogger by Their Site

Today is the First Crusader Challenge!! I must reveal the following:  one secret, one lie, one interesting quirk, one annoying habit, one of my best character traits and one of my favorite things in the whole world. All while using a few fun words. And so I've written a piece about my blogging experience so far:
Here it is

NEVER EVER judge a Blogger by their site

I know, I know, I shouldn’t judge a blogger by their site, but I must confess; it's instinct.
If you have stars, rainbows, or rabbits around your name, I'll be by when I need a virtual hug. Not a doubt.
Sites with blades flying at me and in my face script, (oh, yeah) are my new source of inspiration. See ya, soon.
Those specialists using interesting words like bloviate or fuliguline, well… I will be back for help. I have tons of questions, about both.
The butt kickers write with a GET HER DONE attitude. They don't pause at swear words, and their sidebars mean business. I’ll stop by for motivation, promise.
Then there are the quiet sites, where I gab about life. Home.
Like it or not, voice shines through in our choices. I reserve the right to change my opinion as I get to know my new friends, but first impressions count, like it or not.
Got me thinking... How do others see me? I've been called witty three times. I don't even know what that means. Does it mean almost funny?
I love telling stories, it’s my favourite thing, and I don’t mind sharing my experiences as a writer. I just finished my eleventh book. I must have learnt something, right? They took research, and focus. (I generally do several things at a time, a little quirk I can’t break. Even as I write this, I'm listening to music, copying a newsletter, and eating a cookie I baked.)
I wrote this piece as part of a challenge, and something I wrote is an outright lie. Sorry, I don't normally lie. I might stretch the truth for flare, a habit others find annoying, but I am a storyteller, after all.
What is the lie?

To judge a blogger by the site can make you miss out on one amazing site. Some people keep their sites simple and that is great. I guess it is all personal taste. I keep my site in a way that ties into my books.

By the way hello from a fellow crusader

Hi Tanya
i think your lie is that you multitask.

Summer Ross said...

LOL- I have no idea what the lie is- so a huge guess here- is it the amount of books finished?

You're a great liar. The only thing that stopped me was this sentence: Sites with blades flying at me and in my face script, (oh, yeah) are my new source of inspiration. I asked myself, so what's inspiring about blades flying at you and "in your face" script--was that the lie? You're not going back to those sites? I really can't guess.

I think the title might be a lie; I mean, how else can you judge a blogger except by her site.

Witty just means you have a sophisticated sense of humor for the most part.
Like Frasier...

I try to read at least one blog when I come across one I don't like the look of. Because the writing may prove me wrong.

Okay, so you're also making me wish I'd been more original in my approach to writing my stuff down. Anyhoo...you're 11th book. Why do I smell a rat there?

11 books? Hmmm... :) Just thought I'd stop by and say hello! I'm loving this crusade! :)

Hhaha I love how you managed to use bloviate and fuliguline. I need to look them up in the dictionary ;)

You did a great job on this challenge! Nice to meet you.

I'm going along with the "11 books"--not saying that it's exactly a lie because you probably have that many and more on your agenda and in your head.

This was a really unique way of approaching the challenge while telling us more about you and what you represent. Great job!

The thing I really like about the Blogging From A to Z April Challenge 2011 is that you have an opportunity to get to know a variety of bloggers in the way you've described here. Are you in the Challenge yet? Several of the Crusaders are doing both.

Hey fellow crusader - I'm a Canadian like Tanya!
I like the way you did this, focusing on blogs. Yours is stylin' - lovely to meet you!

HELLO MY 100th follower!!! Sorry it took me so long to get over here! So... this lie thing is hard- I was thinking that as I wrote my own because what do you all know about me? What do I know about you? My life is obvious if you read some of my other posts but yours, not so much. I will guess the eleven books also??? Anything else is too subtle to really know...

Lydia Kang said...

Is the lie about the 11th book? I can't tell! Nice to meet you, Crusader!

Ok I am writing my guess before looking at anyone elses thoughts. I think my blog is about the darkest thing you follow so my guess is that you won't be 'inspired' by any sites slinging knives at ya! You might do bunny blogs, but sharp things are not good for multi taskers. I didn't get in on the crusade, but I am poking around a few of them anyway. Ok that's it -see ya later to see if I was right.

Great job! I know what you mean about judging by a blog. I have a bad habit of doing that, which I'm working on. I love your definition of witty. I'm not sure how I'd react to that label, either. As for the lie, I'm running with the pack and saying the 11 books (but maybe it's sour grapes since I'm having such a hard time finishing my first). :)

Amanda Milner said...

Hmm, it's either the eleven books or that you don't know what witty is. ;-) Lol!

Waves @ fellow Crusader :-)
I'm gonna guess 11 books is the lie.

I love the concept of this post - probably because I immediately look at blog design too LOL! New follower:)

Hello fellow crusader! I think your lie is that you weren't copying a newsletter when you wrote this.

Golden Eagle said...

Great way of doing the challenge!

My guess is the number of books you've done.

Coreene Callahan said...

Hello fellow crusader! I'm in your group so popped over to see what you where up to and...wow! Great post.

But, the lie? You've done such an amazing job, it's hard to ferret out. But, I think it's the amount of books you've written.

Julie Musil said...

The lie....I'm going to guess you didn't bake the cookie. Am I right? Wrong? That was a fun little challenge thrown in at the end.

I never thought about my blog and what it says about me but you're right! And yes, you ARE witty. Not almost funny, but funny :D

Christine said...

How FUN! I don't think I know you well enough to guess the lie. Maybe the number of books you've written. I’m a fellow crusader and thought I’d stop by to say HEY! Great blog! I’m your newest follower. You can find me at www.christinebryant.blogspot.com .

Oh, very clever! And you've got me stumped about lie. I'll guess you're eating a piece of chocolate instead of a cookie??

Nice to meet you, Tanya!

Jess said...

I've read this post about four times and have also read everyone's comments...and I still don't know. You're an excellent liar :)

Shannon O'Donnell said...

Wow. That was so smooth that I forgot there was even supposed to be a lie. You got me. :-)

L.A. Colvin said...

THis one is really hard. I'm going to say the cookie.

Hello fellow crusader! If you've really written eleven books, then that's AWESOME! If it was your lie...good one! Loved it!!

Carol Riggs said...

Hi, Tanya, nice to meet you, and thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Crusading! and it was fun to read your post as part of the Challenge (you're so right!--diff blogs have diff personalities). :)

I think that your post is great. It was very informative and flowed very well. Yeah, the lie part is really hard to tell. I try not to judge the blog by the cover and don't always relate to every post but try to give everyone an equal chance. I'm not offended by the Canadian writing. I have several Canadian friends that do it all the time. I am used to it now. :D

Great post! Very creative. . .and witty (haha)!

I'm going with how many books you've written. (I'm assuming since you're a mom and woman you can multitask with the best of them.)

Hope I'm not far off.

This cracked me up: "I've been called witty three times. I don't even know what that means. Does it mean almost funny?" Thanks for the laugh. I guess that means you really are funny. :)

Kerri Cuev said...

Wow I have no clue what the lie is. Very good lol!

Anonymous said...

For the lie, maybe you haven't finished the 11th book yet?
That's my guess and I'm sticking to it. :)

LOVED this post! :) I'm a fellow crusader and new follower.

I confess, I've seen the next post so I won't guess now, but good job! I probably would have guessed wrong.

I am a bit late, and already read your reveal. :/ Oh well, Hello fellow crusader!

No guessing from me since I've lready seen the answe, but I would have gotten it right anyway I'm sure. *cough*

Great opst, good luck with the challenge.
